Looking after a device

Carrying carefully

Use two hands to carry a tablet. Hold it flat. Keep it close to you. Do not run with it. Walk slow. Then you will not trip. You will not drop it. Carrying it carefully keeps it safe and working.

Keeping it dry

Water and screens do not mix. A drink spilled on a screen can break it for good. Keep cups far away from any screen. Finish your drink first. Then use the screen. This one small rule saves a lot of trouble.

Gentle taps, not hard presses

A screen needs just a soft tap. Do not press too hard. Do not scratch it with a sharp toy. Treat a screen like a nice picture. You would not want to smudge it or scratch it at all.

Asking first

Ask a grown-up first. Ask before you use a new device. They can show you how it works. They can show you where it is safe to use. Asking first is the right way, every single time you use it.

Putting it away safely

Put a device down gently when you are done. Do not leave it on the edge of a table. Put it somewhere safe and flat. A safe spot means it will still be there and still work next time you want it.
