More first sounds: i, n, m, d

Four more sounds
I says "i" like in itch. N says "n" like in net. M says "mmm" like in mum. D says "d" like a drum. Say each one five times. Make your mouth work hard. Feel your lips and your tongue move. These are the next four sounds you need. You already know four. Now you will know eight.
Sound hunting again
Find an "i" thing. Find an "n" thing. Find an "m" thing. Find a "d" thing. Look on your plate. Look in your bag. Look out of the window. Look under your bed. Sound hunting works anywhere, any time. It works in the bath. It works on a walk. The more you play it, the faster your ears get.
New words appear
Now you know eight sounds: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d. Watch what happens. Sat becomes SIT. Pat becomes PIN. Tap becomes NAP. Eight sounds make far more words than four. Each new sound you learn unlocks many more. That is why every new sound feels exciting. It is a key to a whole pile of new words waiting to be read.
Say each one slowly, then faster, then together. s-i-t → sit. n-a-p → nap. m-a-n → man. d-a-d → dad. p-i-n → pin. Five new words from eight sounds. Say each word again, but this time close your eyes while you blend it. Notice how the sounds still join up, even without looking at anything. Tomorrow, try making your own word with these eight sounds. See how many you can find.
